Right Honourable Herb Gray Parkway

Windsor, Ontario, Canada

Dragados was mandated in 2010 by Infrastructure Ontario as a member of a Design-Build Joint Venture to construct the 11 km below-grade 6 lanes roadway, 15 interchanges and 12 cut and cover tunnels with 1.8 km coverage.
This Right Honourable Herb Gray Parkway is the result of the Detroit River International Crossing (DRIC) study, one of the most comprehensive environmental assessments conducted in Ontario. The Parkway will serve as a vital linkage between highway 401 to the new in development Gordie Howe International Bridge, and will support US-Canada border trade goals.
The Parkway Project was considered as the largest single investment on a highway in the history of Ontario when contracted. Dragados and its Joint-Venture (JV) partners took on Ontario’s first transportation project to be delivered with an alternative financing and procurement (AFP) model - managed by Infrastructure Ontario.
In the development of the Parkway Project, Dragados has demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability, by working closely with industry experts in the relocation and protection of seven (7) plants and two (2) snake species at risk found within the Parkway corridor. The comprehensive landscape design features of the Parkway provided the community with more than 300 acres of new green space, 20 km of recreational trails and extensive noise meditation structures.
The team has worked diligently to maintain the traffic flow and limited travel delays of the existing border crossing corridor throughout the four years of construction. The Design-Build portion of the project was completed in 2015.
